Lachlan H. McIntosh was a major and commander of the Georgia State Ordnance during the Civil War. From 1885-1896 he was in government service in Washington, first in the Pension Office and then in the Geological Survey. He was the grandson of Lachlan McIntosh (b. 1750), who was the son of Col.
